The Lord of the Rings written by J. R. R. Tolkien, the novel has three fantasy adventure films using stories from it. directed by Peter Jackson. Peter Jackson’s film depictions demonstrate a unique ability to produce a quality fantasy film from a book.
Published 29 July 1954 the book reveals an immense talent for putting words into pictures drawing on his devout Roman Catholic upbringing and using elements of Christian stories for the content. Set in Middle-earth, intended to be Earth at some time way back the book was intended as a sequel to his earlier book The Hobbit but rather took over and became the major title.
