Doctor Who is a long-running British science fiction programme that is produced by the BBC. It has a main character, the Doctor, who is the last surviving Time-Lord, from the planet Gallifrey. He is known to be an eccentric alien traveller, who has great intelligence and battles against injustice, while exploring both time and space in an unreliable old time machine called the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space).
The Doctor has many enemies throughout the shows, like the Cybermen and the Slitheen, but none are as dangerous as the Daleks. The Daleks are the reason the Doctor is the last living Time-Lord as the last great time war killed off all time-lords and Daleks excluding the Doctor and a lone Dalek. The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989, and was relaunched in 2005 and continues to this day. In all, 11 different actors have played the Time travelling Doctor, the latest being Matt Smith who took over the role in 2010. He has succeeded William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. The change of actor in the leading role can cause confusion in most shows but in Doctor Who the event is made to be part of the plot and is shown as regeneration. The doctor takes over a new body and has a new personality. As a fan of the show, how could you resist the brilliant collectors item that is the action figure set featuring models of all eleven doctors! Or even treat yourself to your very own sonic screwdriver. Who knows, you may be able to use the electronic TARDIS to imagine new plotlines and enemies for the doctor to overcome.
