Product Information
Designed as a fast bomber, the Dornier Do 17z could theoretically outrun other fighter aircraft.
Known as the 'Flying Pencil', the aircraft was used extensively during the blitz in the skies over the county of Kent.
One Dornier was shot down into the English Channel and is now under conservation at RAF Cosford.
18th August 1940 'The Hardest Day'. Nine Dorneier Do17s conducted a low level raid on RAF Kenley causing significant damage to the gangars and surrounding buildings. The lead aircraft, F1+DT, was damaged by the parachute and cable defense system and subsequently brought down by the Hurricanes of 111 squadron.
