A 1:35 scale model kit of the British Main Battle Tank Centurion Mk.I from AFV Club.

Germany's 88mm cannon of WWII was not only an effective anti-aircraft battery it was also widely used as anti-tank artillery. Due to it's large caliber and high muzzle velocity, many allied AFVs were destroyed by 88mm rounds. In September of 1943 Britain's Cabinet of War submitted a request for a new cruiser tank to counter the threat.

This new tank was to be named the A41 and was required to be capable of surviving a head on impact from an 88mm round. In addition the A41 was to have the towing capacity of a British Army 40 ton tractor and was to be transportable on the British railway systems requiring it to fit within the size limits of the rail and bridges.
